An overview of Smart variant selectors
This guide provides an overview of Baseline's Smart variant selectors feature.
Use the feature to show or hide product option combinations that customers can't purchase. As customers choose different product option combinations, Baseline's Smart variant selectors update in real time to show which product options can be purchased.
Strike-through unavailable product options
By default, the Variant picker shows a strike-through for product options that customers cannot purchase, such as unavailable or sold out product variants.
For example, the following image shows a strike-through applied to the Variant picker for Size and Color product options that cannot be purchased.

Hide unavailable product options
Alternatively, instead of showing a strike-through, you can set the Variant picker to hide product options that customers cannot purchase.
For example, the following image shows the previous Variant picker with unavailable Size and Color product options hidden.

To set the Variant picker to hide product options that customers cannot purchase:
- Open a Product section in Theme editor.
- Select the Variant picker block.
- Enable the Hide sold out or unavailable variants option.

For example, the previous image shows part of Theme editor's Variant picker block settings inside a Product section. In the menu, the Hide sold out or unavailable variants option is enabled. When this option is disabled, the Variant picker displays a strike-through for product options that customers cannot purchase instead of hiding them.
Note
For some apps that allow customers to sign up to be notified when a product is back in stock, you might be required to turn off the Hide sold out or unavailable variants option.
