Search

This guide describes the Theme settings > Search menu options.

Visitors to your store enter search terms into the Search textbox. Occurrences of the terms throughout your store are displayed in the search results. Use the search settings to specify the parts of your store to include in the search results. Refer to Shopify help: Search behavior.

The previous image shows a store's home page. In the upper right, part of Theme editor's Theme settings > Search menu is displayed. To include products in the search results, the menu's Search products option is checked (set to on). On the left, the Search textbox contains the search term "Simon". The Simon says stool product matches the search term. Below the search textbox, the product is displayed in the search results.

Set up search

To set up search:

1. In Theme editor, go to Theme settings > Search.

2. Select a setting described in the following table.

Setting name	Description
Enable predictive search	Use the Enable predictive search options to turn on/off predictive search functionality for the store. As a visitor types a search term into the search field, predictive search suggests items in your store that match the search term. Refer to Shopify help: Predictive search.
Search products	Use the Search products options to turn show/hide products in the search results.
Search collections	Use the Search collections options to show/hide collections in the search results.
Search articles	Use the Search articles options to show/hide blog articles in the search results.
Search pages	Use the Search pages options to turn show/hide pages in the search results.
Show search suggestions	Use the Show search suggestions options to turn on/off search suggestions. With this option enable, search suggestions are only shown in predictive search.
Predictive search product results > Product tile type	Use the Product tile type options to select the Standard or Text overlay layout style for product tiles in predictive search results.
