Recently viewed products

This guide describes how to set up the Recently viewed products section.

Use this section to display product tiles for recently viewed products.

The previous image shows the home page of an example store. In the upper left, part of the Theme editor's Recently viewed products section menu is displayed. The menu's Maximum products to show option is set to 4. This option specifies the maximum number of products to display in the section. For example, in the previous image, the section displays four product titles.

Configure the Recently viewed products section

To configure your Recently viewed products section:

1. In the Theme editor, at the top of the page, use the theme templates dropdown menu to select a page that contains a Recently viewed products section.

   Note

   The section can be added to any page except Checkout, Gift card, and Customer pages. To add the section to the current page, select Add section > Recently viewed products. Refer to Shopify help: Add a section.

2. From the side menu, select Recently viewed products.

3. Select a setting described in the following table.

Setting name	Description
Product tile type	Use the Product tile type option to select Standard or Text overlay. With Standard product tiles, product details, such as product title and price, are displayed below the product images. With Text overlay product tiles, product details overlay the product images.
Maximum products to show	Use the Maximum products to show option to select 2, 3, or 4. This option specifies the maximum number of products to display in the section.
Products per row on desktop	Use the Products per row on desktop option to select 2, 3, or 4. This option specifies the maximum number of products shown in each row in the section on desktop display devices.
Products per row on mobile	Use the Products per row on mobile option to select 1 or 2. This option specifies the maximum number of products shown in each row in the section on mobile display devices.
Quick buy > Enable quick buy	Use the Enable quick buy option to show or hide a Choose options button beside products in the section. Customers can use the button to choose product options before adding a product to the cart. Note that this option is only supported when the Product tile type option is set to Standard.
Header > Subheading	In the Subheading field, enter text to display as a subheading for the section. Note that the Subheading field is hidden in the Theme editor when the Heading field is empty.
Header > Heading	In the Heading field, enter text to display as a heading for the section.
Color > Color scheme	Use the Color scheme picker to select a color scheme for the section. Refer to Colors.
Theme settings	If available, select Theme settings to access additional settings for the section. Refer to Section theme settings menu.
Custom CSS	Select Custom CSS. In the CSS field, enter custom CSS styles to apply only to the current section. Refer to Shopify help: Add custom CSS. To apply custom styles to your entire online store, refer to Theme settings > Custom CSS.
Remove section	Select Remove section to delete the section from the current page.

Note

To connect a metafield to a setting that supports metafields, select the Connect dynamic source icon displayed beside the setting in the Theme editor.
