Shop the look

This guide describes the Shop the look section.

Use the section to display an image featuring your products, with a hotspot for each item shown. A corresponding product list appears alongside the image, and both hotspots and list items link to their respective product pages.

The previous image shows the section on an example store's home page. In the upper left, part of Theme editor's Shop the look section menu is displayed. The menu's Desktop alignment option is set to Top. This option specifies the position of the product items list inside the section's Product list area. For example, in the previous image, the product items list, including 1. Blue dress and 2. Yellow dress, is positioned at the top of the section.

Configure the Shop the look section

To configure your Shop the look section:

  1. In Theme editor, at the top of the page, use the theme templates dropdown menu to select a page that contains a Shop the look section.

    Note

    The section can be added to any page except Checkout, Gift card, and Customer pages. To add the section to the current page, select Add section > Shop the look. Refer to Shopify help: Add a section.

  2. From the side menu, select Shop the look.

  3. Select a setting described in the following table.

Setting nameDescription
Desktop imageUse the Desktop image picker to select an image to show inside the section on desktop displays. The image you select can be overlaid with hotspots that link to the product pages for the items shown in the image.
Mobile imageUse the Mobile image picker to select an image to show inside the section on mobile displays. The image you select can be overlaid with hotspots that link to the product pages for the items shown in the image.
Crop imageUse the Crop image option to select Natural, Square, Portrait or Landscape. This option sets an image cropping style for images inside the section.
Deep insetSet the Deep inset option to on or off. With this option enabled, an area of empty space is displayed around the section's images.
Image position on desktopUse the Image position on desktop option to position the section's image to the Right or Left on desktop displays.
TextIn the Text field, enter text to display as body text inside the section. Use the inline text editor to add links and styling as needed.
Hotspots > Use larger hotspot on desktopSet the Use larger hotspot on desktop option to on or off. On desktop, enabling this setting makes hotspot areas larger, making them easier for customers to target and interact with when viewing the store.
Product list > Show product thumbnailSet the Show product thumbnail option to on or off. Enabling this option displays product thumbnails in the product list, helping customers identify items more quickly.
Product list > Product thumbnail cropUse the Product thumbnail crop option to select Square or Portrait. This option sets an image cropping style for product thumbnail images inside the section's product list. To use this option, enable the Show product thumbnail option.
Product list > Show vendorSet the Show vendor option to on or off. With this option enabled, product vendor names are displayed alongside items in the section's product list.
Product list > Desktop alignmentUse the Desktop alignment option to align items in the section's product list to the Top or Bottom.
Header > SubheadingIn the Subheading field, enter a single line of text to display as a subheading inside the section. To use this option, enter text in the Heading field.
Header > HeadingIn the Heading field, enter a single line of text to display as a heading inside the section.
Color > Color schemeUse the Color scheme picker to select a color scheme for the section. Refer to Colors.
Theme settingsIf available, select Theme settings to access additional settings for the section. Refer to Section theme settings menu.
Custom CSSSelect Custom CSS. In the CSS field, enter custom CSS styles to apply only to the current section. Refer to Shopify help: Add custom CSS. To apply custom styles to your entire online store, refer to Theme settings > Custom CSS.
Remove sectionSelect Remove section to delete the section from the current page.

Note

To connect a metafield to a setting that supports metafields, select the Connect dynamic source icon displayed beside the setting in Theme editor.

Configure a block within your Shop the look section

To configure a block within your Shop the look section:

  1. In Theme editor, at the top of the page, use the theme templates dropdown menu to select a page that contains a Shop the look section.

  2. From the side menu, expand the Shop the look section menu.

  3. To configure an existing block, select the block from the side menu.

    To add a new block, select Add block, choose a block to add, and then select the block you added.

    Note

    Inside the section, you can add, remove, show, hide, and move blocks. Refer to Configure blocks inside a section and Shopify help: Sections and blocks.

  4. Apply a block setting described in the following table.

  • Use the Product picker to select a product to display inside the block.
  • Adjust the Horizontal position slider between 0 % and 100 % to specify a horizontal position for the block's hotspot.
  • Adjust the Vertical position slider between 0 % and 100 % to specify a vertical position for the block's hotspot.
  • Set the Use different position on mobile option to on or off. With this option enabled, you can set a horizontal and vertical position for the block's hotspot specifically for mobile displays.
  • Adjust the Mobile > Horizontal position slider between 0 % and 100 % to specify a horizontal position for the block's hotspot on mobile displays. To use this option, enable the Use different position on mobile option.
  • Adjust the Mobile > Vertical position slider between 0 % and 100 % to specify a vertical position for the block's hotspot on mobile displays. To use this option, enable the Use different position on mobile option.
  • Select Remove block to delete the block from the current section.
